A Place for Your Notes
Notes can be simple — text, todos, pictures. But sometimes notes are complex. Free cell is a flexible platform for your notes that is fast, powerful, and respects your humanity. It's time to power up your notes.
We prioritize getting you in and out. Your files are stored locally, and sync to the cloud when needed. Never get stuck waiting to connect.
Simple yet powerful tokens that can be used anywhere. Once you define a variable you can use it throughout your notes. Need to change it? No problem, it auto-updates across your entire notebook.
Why should you have to use a spreadsheet to do some calculations? Use math in your notes, and combine them with variables to quickly play with numbers.
Under the hood we use Markdown for your documents, so your notes aren't stuck on one platform. Easily bring your notes wherever you want.
Unlike other companies, it’s not our business what you write about. Only you and people you choose to share with can see your notes.
We are open source. Anyone can do their own audit of our software and see how it's all put together.
Free Cell is for anyone that wants to keep their notes in a highly accessible place. It’s also great for researchers, academics, planners, scientists, and professionals that want computational power directly in their notes.
Yes. You can use Free Cell as much as you want locally. That means all your notes will be stored only on the one device you created them with. If you clear your storage the notes will be gone for good. If you want to sync across devices, keep them safe in the cloud, or share notes with family, friends, or colleagues, you’ll need to upgrade.
We charge a small yearly fee for people that choose to upgrade.
We haven’t finalized pricing yet, but it will likely not be more than the cost of a few coffees a month.
We literally do not have the ability to decrypt our user’s data. If you lock yourself out, it's gone for good. And mainly, our code is open source, meaning you can see how it all works.
Those apps are too bloated. They make you wait. They are run by creepy, unaccountable corporate surveillance machines. Our philosophy is built on the idea that our goals must be aligned with our users if we want to run a sustainable business.
Free Cell will first roll out as web app to have the greatest amount of accessibility and availability. We also anticipate rolling out native apps as user demand dictates.
